“...even those I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”

Isaiah 56:6-7 NASB

what is the house of prayer ?
The House of Prayer is a Biblical representation of the type of house that God has designed for His people — a house prayer.

The Bible explicitly tells us of the importance of corporate prayer and worship. For it is God who calls His people to be people of His presence, “whose house we are.” (Hebrews 3:6, NKJV)

God’s house of prayer, therefore, is not in a sense as much of a physical location as it is a lifestyle for His people.

In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus stated how His house is to be a house of prayer. We, family of God, are His house.

“It is written My house is the house of prayer.”
Luke 19:46 NKJV

we are called to a lifestyle of prayer & worship
We are all called to pray. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says “pray continually.” As Jesus, our example, stands in a place of intercession, so are we to stand. The House of Prayer is an impetus for the corporate Body of Christ to come together in this lifestyle of prayer by keeping the flames of intercession burning. With the various prayer burdens placed upon our hearts by our Heavenly Father, there is a continuous work of intercession to be done. The Book of Revelation speaks about the prayers of God’s people, but in the same note, worship is represented by the harp. It is prayer and worship which are the foremost functions of heaven! While intercession comes in many forms, the House of Prayer seeks to fulfill the Word in Revelation 5:8, by being a house of prayer and worship.

“Each one had a harp, and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints…” Revelation 5:8 NKJV

“The fire on the altar must be kept burning: it must not go out. Every
morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering…
The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go
out.” Leviticus 6:12-13 (NIV – stays)

corporate worship & prayer - unity
The Queens House of Prayer in Flushing is not an independent work of one church. It is a cooperative effort of local pastors and ministry leaders who are of one heart, mind and purpose, seeking to hear and obey the voice of the Lord in establishing His House of Prayer here in Flushing, Queens – the most ethnically diverse community. The QHOP welcomes churches, ministries and men and women of God, regardless of denominational, generational or cultural differences, to come together as one man in Christ to worship and pray. With this vision in heart, Pillars of Faith Tabernacle has opened its doors to be a House of Prayer for the Body of Christ. Pastors, ministry leaders, worshippers, and intercessors are invited to come be a part of what God is doing in this arena. With the goal of continuous worship and intercession to rise up before the Throne of God, time slots of two-hour prayer watches are available for God’s people to come in and pray!

change, the fruit of fervent prayer
James 5:16 says that it is the “...effectual, fervent prayer of the righteous man that avails much.“ With the intent on “availing much” some of the individual Prayer Watches at the House of Prayer will focus on:

  • The Community: Flushing, Queens, and New York City

  • The Body of Christ: Local / Pastors and Church Leaders

  • The Next Generation: The Youth / The Educational System

  • Israel: The Peace of Jerusalem

  • Salvation: The Unsaved

  • Reconciliation: Racial, Generational, Cultural, Denominational

  • The Body of Christ: Revival / Repentance

  • The Nations of the World

  • The Government, Government Leaders and Moral Issues

Just as Daniel read the words of the Prophet Jeremiah and prayed forth God’s will in his day, so we, too, must give ourselves to prayer to have the will of God become manifest in our times.

The House of Prayer is given to worship, intercession and hearing the voice of the Lord in such a time as this.
